Background
Unity, previously known as Credit Union Baywide, embarked on an inspiring journey to unify their brand across several credit unions in New Zealand. Their aim was to create a cohesive community with a shared purpose of doing great things together for the benefit of all members.
Process
Unity brought together NZCU Baywide, NZCU South, NZCU Central, and ACU under one brand name: Unity. This rebranding included creating a new visual identity featuring a stylised koru symbol, representing unity, partnership, and cultural heritage. The modern look emphasised a commitment to being part of contemporary New Zealand, treating members as individuals, not just numbers.
Impact
The rebranding process prioritised people over profits by reinvesting any earnings back into the community, highlighting Unity’s commitment to making a positive impact. Practical enhancements were also made, including easier-to-use internet banking, updated payment options in the mobile banking app, and a refreshed website, branches, and ATMs.
Results
The unified brand garnered attention from both existing members and potential customers, reinforcing the credit unions’ commitment to their communities and enhancing operational efficiency through streamlined processes and shared resources. Members felt a stronger sense of belonging and trust in the credit unions.
